Universal Pictures salute showcases century of crowd-pleasing fare

?Universal Pictures: Celebrating 100 Years,? a fascinating UCLA Film & Television Archive series starting Friday at the Hammer Museum's Billy Wilder Theater in Westwood, is being put on to celebrate what UCLA describes as ?the oldest continuously operating film producer and distributor in the United States.? With a century of films to choose from, the UCLA programmers have cast an especially wide and eclectic net, going from 1913's ?Traffic in Souls? all the way through 2009's ?Inglourious Basterds,? which Universal partnered with Weinstein Co. to release.
